Reports emerging this afternoon suggest that VfL Wolfsburg will miss out on signing out-of-favour striker Niclas Füllkrug.
The club from Lower Saxony were tipped as the favourites to sign the Germany international at the start of December.
However, according to Calciomercato.com, AC Milan has reached a verbal agreement with the West Ham United marksman.
Furthermore, Milan would take over Füllkrug’s outstanding salary of €1.5million, which runs until the end of the year.
A loan deal is therefore a possibility, and talks between the Serie A giants and the London based Premier League side are underway.
Füllkrug himself has reportedly instructed his representatives to put all other options on hold for the time being.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan sporting director Igli Tare sees Füllkrug as the ideal fit for Milan’s attack.
Regardless of the expected departure of Santiago Giménez, the Rossoneri have an urgent need for a striker.
