With 15 goals in his first 10 Bundesliga games this season, Serhou Guirassy has been linked with a number of clubs.

Speculation has suggested that a move could be on the cards as early as January, with Guirassy’s contract reportedly including a release clause of €17.5 million.

Nevertheless, Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth remains optimistic that the striker will stay at the club beyond January.

“We are concentrating on the things that are in our hands so that he stays,” Wohlgemuth told Kicker, adding:

“We are convinced that he wants to stay. But we also know how the market works.”

12 games into the season, Stuttgart sit in a sensational third place – and their success is both a blessing and a curse, Wohlgemuth reveals.

“What’s happening at the moment is arousing desire. Not only for our own players, but also for those we want to bring in. Prices are rising. Sporting success in our situation and with the still manageable budget also has its disadvantages,” said Wohlgemuth.

“But of course it’s better this way than the other,” he emphasized.
