VfB Stuttgart are already preparing for the potential departure of striker Sehrou Guirassy in the winter and have set their sights on Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis, according to Kicker.
Recently, Guirassy has flirted with the idea of leaving Stuttgart in the winter and the 27-year-old has a clause in his contract worth €20m which can be activated in the winter. Stuttgart still believes that Guirassy will stay until at least the end of the season and have refuted any idea of a departure.
However, VfB have begun to prepare themselves and see Ioannidis as the successor. The 23-year-old has scored eight goals in 20 games this season and has a contract at Panathinaikos until 2027.
Stuttgart will be unable to wait for a decision on Guirassy’s future deep into the January window as Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in Ioannidis as they look to fill their vacant striker role. Both teams have also recently been linked to Red Bull Salzburg striker Sékou Koita who is looking to leave the Austrian side in the winter.
Stuttgart and Frankfurt will likely be going head-to-head on a striker in the winter.
