Tottenham Want ‘Insane’ £60m Forward Who is ‘Like Eze’

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing highly-rated Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, according to The Transfers Podcast.

Thomas Frank is looking for alternative options at the top end of the pitch after missing out on Eberechi Eze to North London rivals Arsenal, and the 23-year-old, who scored seven goals and assisted 12 for Monaco last season, could be a perfect signing for Spurs, as he has been compared to Eze in the past due to his skilful playing style.

Spurs have also been linked with Manchester City winger, Savinho, but a deal for the Brazilian may be difficult to facilitate due to the price tag he would demand, despite it recently being claimed that Spurs would be prepared to “obliterate” their transfer record for him.

Tottenham Want Akliouche After Missing Out on Eze

Tottenham were hit with a sucker-punch last week after Eze, who they had been chasing for a large portion of the summer transfer window, officially joined their North London rivals, Arsenal.

Despite missing out on Eze to their bitter rivals, the Lilywhites have seemingly turned their attention elsewhere and are now keen on signing highly-rated Monaco forward, Akliouche, who has been compared to Eze in the past due to his excellent dribbling skills, and has also been described as “insane.”

Despite it recently being reported that Spurs were willing to break their current £65m transfer record to acquire Savinho from Manchester City, Akliouche could be a cheaper option, which would potentially allow Thomas Frank to spend more in other positions, as well as covering one of the wide positions, which he is clearly keen on doing.

Duncan Castles said the following during the latest episode of The Transfers Podcast:

“If it isn’t Savinho, who will be expensive, there’s also interest in Maghnes Akliouche at Monaco. He’s a 23-year-old, very skilful and quick left-footed forward, who tends to play off the right wing, but can also play centrally. Like Eze, he’s an excellent dribbler of the ball.”

As mentioned, for Spurs to acquire the services of Savinho, it will be extremely expensive, and Man City’s final asking price may be well above what the North London club are willing to pay.

That may not be a bad thing, though, as if Akliouche is their go-to back-up option, he will come at a cheaper price, as it was recently revealed that Monaco could sell for as little as £60m.
