1. FC Union Berlin have snapped up Alexander Schwolow on a free transfer.
The former Freiburg goalkeeper, who most recently played for Schalke 04 on loan, joins Union after his contract with Hertha BSC was recently terminated by mutual consent.
“Alex is a seasoned Bundesliga goalkeeper,” commented Union’s director of men’s professional football, Oliver Ruhnert, meanwhile.
“Despite his difficult recent situation, he was quick to accept the challenge of coming to Union in order to regain his old strengths. With the necessary patience, we are sure that this will succeed, and that he will increase our options.”
