Olivier Giroud may be 37 years old but with 10 goals already this season, he looks as good as ever and in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche (via Sky Italia), the striker revealed that is looking to extend his Milan contract.
The Frenchman scored two goals on Saturday in France’s 14-0 drubbing of Gibraltar. It was a good response in his first game since his red card away at Lecce in the league.
Giroud addressed the incident in his interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, saying: “We all make mistakes along the way. Even I, who in Lecce got a second yellow card after reacting badly.”
On his Milan future, Giroud said: “I’d like to stay. My deal is expiring next June, but I haven’t spoken to the club yet. I want to continue and I think I have the credentials to do so.”
With his contract expiring at the end of this season and Milan looking at younger strikers like Jonathan David, it is as yet unknown if they will look to renew. If Giroud keeps firing like he currently is though, Milan may not even have to think twice.
The Rossoneri are back in action this weekend and take on Fiorentina on Saturday night. They need a response after some poor league form over the last month or so.
