Galatasaray have today announced the arrival of German midfielder Kerem Demirbay from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 30-year-old, who had 12 months remaining on his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, has signed a contract until 2026. Galatasaray have also confirmed that they’ve paid the Bundesliga club €3.7m to sign the former Germany international.
Demirbay is expected to earn a net salary of a reported €1m at Galatasaray. Kicker further report that while the fee is €3.7m, various performance-related bonuses, which are achievable, was agreed upon during negotiations. Should Galatasaray qualify for the Champions League proper, B04 will receive their first bonus. In total, Demirbay’s transfer could see Die Werkself pocket just over €6m.
During his time at Bayer Leverkusen, Demirbay scored 15 and created 30 in 149 games across all competitions since his €32m move from Hoffenheim in 2019. The player’s move to Galatasaray will offset a fee of around €6.4m had Demirbay remained at the club.
