Monaco GP Schedule and How to Watch

The F1 season is well and truly in its stride, with some early contenders emerging for the Driver’s Championship already. Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are challenging on behalf of McLaren, while the Red Bull of Max Verstappen is hoping to cling onto the coattails and make the season a memorable one come the end of the campaign.

After the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday May 18th, the attention of F1 fans turns towards Monaco. The iconic track is steeped in history and is unarguably one of the more challenging circuits on the calendar, and a win here is often the most hard-fought of the entire season.

Given its location, it’s no surprise the Monaco GP often has some of the world’s biggest celebrities and richest people turn up, and race day should be no different this year either. But for those unable to secure a ticket for the event, below is everything you need to know on how to watch from home, and the full schedule for the race weekend.

Monaco Grand Prix Food Prices

The Monaco Grand Prix is a luxurious event on the Formula 1 calendar, but the food prices have left fans reeling.

Monaco GP Full Schedule

Since its debut in 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix has barely changed, with the track layout one of the most demanding around. From its sharp corners and that iconic hairpin, the twisting and intricate nature of Monte Carlo separates the best from the rest. Overtaking is as hard as it comes, with there being just ten per race on average over the past decade. It all makes the qualifying section of the race weekend that much more important, and can invariably be the difference between a win or not.

As always, the drivers will have three practice sessions available to them, with the first one getting underway on May 23, with a scheduled time of 12:30 BST. The second of the two practices on that Friday will then commence at 16:00 BST, while the third practice session will start the next day at 11:30am.

That will be the prelude to the start of qualifying, which will begin promptly at 15:00 BST on the Saturday, while it will be lights out for the race the following day at around 14:00 BST. Currently, the weather forecast is set as dry, with temperatures hovering around the 21C mark.

How to Watch

Red Bull in the wet at Monaco

One of the most highly-anticipated races of the year, the Monaco Grand Prix is must-watch television for any F1 fan. While its lack of overtaking opportunities might put off the casual, for those wishing to see masterful driving and control, then the track at Monte Carlo is as fascinating as any circuit on the calendar.

Thankfully for those living in the UK, there is one place to watch it all unfold. The entire race weekend – from the practice sessions to the grand prix – will all be available to watch via Sky Sports’ dedicated F1 channel, with coverage of the actual race set to begin at 12:30 BST. Sky customers can also stream it via the Sky Go app, allowing them to watch it on their tablets on mobile.

If you’re not a Sky customer, then you have the option of purchasing a Sky Sports Day Pass from NOW TV, while the free-to-air Channel 4 will host coverage of the highlights later on Sunday evening.
