Manchester United have started making moves to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Harry Kane this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils are looking for a new centre-forward and want to sign the Englishman. United will let Wout Weghorst return to Burnley at the end of his loan deal.
They want to add an elite striker to allow Marcus Rashford to return to his left-wing position. United have set their sights on Kane because manager Erik ten Hag is an admirer.
The 29-year-old attacker is ready to leave Spurs this summer after failing to win a trophy despite becoming the club’s all-time top scorer.
Also, club chairman Daniel Levy is open to selling after fighting off interest from top European clubs in past seasons.
Levy does not have leverage in negotiations with the player entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Tottenham know there is almost no chance of the striker agreeing to a new deal with the club, so they must sell now.
Kane will have no shortage of options in the market. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have shown interest in the striker.
Both clubs need a striker and are keeping their eye on Kane’s situation.
Although, the player reportedly wants to stay in England and chase Alan Shearer’s Premier League top-scoring record.
Manchester United are already doing their due diligence and exploring the deal’s feasibility.
United know how difficult it can be to negotiate a deal with Levy. The Spurs chief will demand over £100 million for his star striker from English clubs.
However, Levy will accept an offer of around £80 million from foreign clubs.
The mood at Tottenham is reportedly as low as ever, with many fans, staff, and players unsure about the club’s direction.
Tottenham don’t have a coach or sporting director, and fans continue to chant for Levy to leave.
This situation will not encourage Kane to stay at the club.
