Manchester United could reportedly face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea for the potential transfer of Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves.
The 19-year-old is firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s finest young talents, and it seems only a matter of time before he’s snapped up by one of the big names in the Premier League or somewhere else.
According to Team Talk, Man Utd have an interest in Neves, but Chelsea could also be one to watch in the race for the Portugal international’s signature.
The Red Devils are said to have been tracking Neves for over a year now, while Chelsea’s focus is on other areas of their squad.
This could perhaps give United the edge in the race for Neves, though Team Talk also mention the possibility of Saudi Pro League clubs trying to sign the player.
We saw an elite young player in the form of Gabri Veiga make the surprise move to Saudi Arabia in the summer, so one can’t entirely rule out the prospect of someone like Neves following suit.
