According to Fabrice Hawkins, Matvei Safonov (25) has arrived in Paris ahead of a medical with Paris Saint-Germain.
The FC Krasnodar goalkeeper had been heavily linked over the weekend with a move to the French champions. Fabrizo Romano reported that PSG were negotiating a €20 million deal for the Russian international.
This deal now looks set to take place with Hawkins writing that a total agreement has been reached between the Russsian and French club and that Krasnodar had given their blessing for Safonov to travel to Paris.
Safonov will sign a five-year deal with PSG and likely solve their demand for a goalkeeper to provide competition with their current number one Gianluigi Donnarumma (25), especially with Arnau Tenas (22) hoping to leave on loan while Sergio Rico (30) and Keylor Navas (37) are leaving at the end of their contracts.
The club had previously been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel (26) and Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier (22).
