Inter Milan identify Folarin Balogun as preferred transfer target, Arsenal want €40m

Arsenal graduate Folarin Balogun has emerged as Inter Milan’s favoured striker target, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Reims in the French top flight. He was terrific for them, netting 22 goals and three assists in all competitions.

Balogun is now expected to leave the Gunners, as he is eyeing a regular starting position.

Inter have identified him as their ‘favourite’ target after talks for Romelu Lukaku stalled.

The Nerazzurri could propose an initial loan deal, but they must decide whether to spend €35-40 million beyond that to sign him permanently.

Balogun could leave Arsenal soon

Balogun was recently spotted training away from the main group in the pre-season tour of the United States, but that was due to a minor foot injury.

He should be fit in the near future, but it appears Arsenal are bracing for his summer departure.

The Gunners graduate is unlikely to be guaranteed a starting spot next season, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in the pecking order.

Inter are currently the most interested club in signing the United States international, but Arsenal should hold firm on their demands for the highly-talented ace.

If the Nerazzurri are eyeing an initial loan deal for him, the Gunners should ask for an obligatory buy clause from the Serie A outfit as part of the move.

The club should also consider including a buy-back clause as part of the agreement.
