Germany’s main sporting tabloid nevertheless does note that Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach have tendered offers to the soon-to-be out-of-contract Polish striker.
The report was quickly refuted by both Germany’s main sporting tabloid and Bremen’s reliable fan-site “Deichstube”. According to both sources, the Polish international has made no firm decision on his future and will continue to take his time weighing his options. “Sport Bild” nevertheless notes that Kownacki has received offers from both Werder and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Sky Germany and Kicker Magazine has previously linked the long-time F95 attacker with Union Berlin and SC Freiburg. Eintracht Frankfurt and FSV Mainz 05 were also thought to be interested. Gladbach and Werder may maintain something of advantage in the Kownacki race in that they can promise him a stable role and playing time as part of their respective rebuilding processes.
Gladbach will be without Marcus Thuram next season as the Frenchman gets set to depart on a free. Outgoing transfer rumors continue to swirl around both Werder strikers, Niclas Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch. It very much appears as if the Hanseaten might have to do without both after the coming offseason.
