As reported by Bild, discussions between RB Leipzig and Dani Olmo over a contract extension are continuing as the Bundesliga side want to avoid heading into next season with just one-year remaining on the Spaniard’s contract.
Olmo has a contract with RB Leipzig until 2024 and they want to avoid a repeat of the ongoing situation with Konrad Laimer, who will join Bayern Munich when his contract expires in the summer. Leipzig were unable to reach an agreement for a contract extension, and will lose him on a free transfer.
Leipzig’s Max Eberl has already held three conversations with Olmo’s side but in addition to Dani Olmo, he must convince his father, Miquel. It’s known that Olmo’s family like to take their time before coming to a decision.
Should Olmo sign a contract extension beyond 2024, it’s likely to contain to exit clauses. A general release clause of around €75m but a discounted €60m for Spanish clubs.
If RB Leipzig and Olmo can’t reach an agreement, there’s a possibility he could be sold.
