Barcelona have been left livid with their counterparts in the Spanish national team.
This comes after Gavi picked up a serious ACL injury in Spain’s European Championship qualifying meeting with Georgia on Sunday when the 18-year-old was forced to limp from the field of play, whilst clutching his knee.
In turn, it should not come as much of a surprise to hear of those back in Barcelona being altogether unimpressed with the Spain coaching team.
La Roja had already booked their spot at next summer’s tournament ahead of the game, with the clash having therefore been of little importance.
Nevertheless, Luis de la Fuente opted to make use of Gavi from the off, as one of just two players to have started against Cyprus on Thursday, too.
And, as per a report from Mundo Deportivo, such mismanagement has left Barca ‘outraged’.
The Blaugrana do not understand why De la Fuente felt it necessary to utilise Gavi, a player known for his all-action stylings no matter the opposition, in what was essentially a dead rubber.
The FIFA compensation set to come the way of Camp Nou brass is therefore viewed as scant consolation, with Xavi Hernández set to be without an absolutely integral member of his squad for the 2023-24 campaign.
