Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports today that Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Moussa Diaby (24) for a reported €50m plus add-ons.
The Premier League side, coached by Unai Emery, will have to move quickly to secure the signing of Diaby as Al-Nassr recently increased their offer for the French international winger to a reported €43m including add-ons and discussions are still ongoing between the Saudi Arabia club and Leverkusen officials, according to Fabrizio Romano.
As reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, Diaby is yet to make a decision between the two options but with an agreement in principle between Villa and Leverkusen, it would appear that the Premier League side, who finished seventh last season, are in pole position to sign the Frenchman.
Diaby departing would signal an end to his four years at Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored 49 and created 48 in 172 games across all competitions for Die Werkself. With 14 goals and 11 assists in 48 games last season, Diaby finished Leverkusen’s topscorer.
