Manchester United are admirers of Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento, and their director of football Jason Wilcox could play a crucial role in luring the England international to Old Trafford, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed.
The Old Trafford side are reported to be among Livramento’s admirers in the Premier League, with Manchester City also keeping tabs on the full-back for 2026.
City’s interest appears the most genuine at present, with a sense that they could make efforts to bring Livramento back to the club next year.
Jacobs claims Newcastle will aim to retain the defender beyond this season, with new sporting director Ross Wilson potentially making Livramento’s contract extension one of his first tasks at the club.
The 23-year-old defender, who joined Newcastle from Southampton in the summer of 2023, is under contract until June 2028 at St James’ Park.
Man Utd Among Tino Livramento’s Admirers
Jacobs, speaking on the United Stand, revealed that Man United admire Livramento and could become more involved if Newcastle become open to a sale in 2026:
“The beauty of Tino Livramento is he can play on both sides.
“So, I can understand why Manchester United would like the player. And let’s not forget that Jason Wilcox knows him incredibly well. So, he’s a factor in all of this as well.
“Man City seem to be the club, speaking to sources, that are most adamant on trying to get Tino Livramento in 2026. But, of course, if they make progress and the feeling becomes that Newcastle might sell, then other clubs will come forward.
“It is absolutely true that Manchester United have people that appreciate Tino Livramento but it’s simply not gone further than that and Ross Wilson, who’s the new sporting director at Newcastle, has just come in and one of his first tasks along with a few others at the club is to get Livramento to sign a new deal.”
Livramento has made only six Premier League appearances for Newcastle this term, having missed the last five with a knee injury.
The ‘superb’ 23-year-old defender is expected to return after the international break, with manager Eddie Howe confirming Livramento could be available for Newcastle’s game against Man City next week.
Livramento featured in all but one of Newcastle’s league games in 2024/25 and earned his first call-up to the England squad in November last year.
He also featured for the Three Lions in September wins over Andorra and Serbia in the World Cup qualifiers, making his first two appearances under Thomas Tuchel.
