A WWE Superstar currently finds themselves in a legal battle after performing a ‘sexualised lap dance’ during an episode of Monday Night Raw earlier this year. The company has also been named as a defendant in the same lawsuit.
WWE’s flagship television show attracts thousands of fans to an arena every week, with many desperate to get up close and personal with their favourite stars.
However, alongside those who part with their hard-earned money to see the show are a considerable number of outside staff, all of whom are brought in to ensure the smooth running of the event.
One individual who was working as a security guard at the 6th of July edition of Raw in Rosemont, Illinois, though, has brought legal action over an interaction they had with a Superstar at the event.
Sheriff Receives ‘Unwanted Sexualised Lap Dance’ From WWE Superstar
Cook County Sheriff Noel Lucas was working his second job as security at the Allstate Arena, when he was asked by WWE to work in an area close to ringside.
Shortly before the opening match of the show, Lucas came into contact with four-time WWE tag team champion, Montez Ford, who is one half of the Street Profits team alongside Angelo Dawkins.
Montez was making his way to ringside when he encountered Lucas, stopping to give him what has been described as an ‘unwanted sexualized lap dance’.
According to the lawsuit, Ford performed ‘a sexually provocative dance immediately in front of and over Lucas, repeatedly thrusting and gyrating his hips and pelvis, performing a sexualized lap dance.’
Lucas insists that the incident, which aired on Netflix TV without his permission, was an unscripted moment. The suit makes 14 separate accusations against Ford. These include battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Security Guard ‘Mocked and Ridiculed’ Over WWE Superstar Lapdance
WWE later uploaded the footage to social media. The lawsuit mentions this, highlighting the fact that WWE used Lucas’ image for commercial purposes, and therefore, are going against the Illinois Right of Publicity.
Elsewhere in the suit, Lucas explained the profound impact that the incident had on himself and his family. Lucas claims his children have been ‘mocked and ridiculed’ over the footage.
He also contends that he has had members of the public approach him over the situation, with some people even thrusting their hips in his direction, thus resembling his interaction with Ford.
Ford and Dawkins lost the WWE World Tag Team Championships to Austin Theory and Bron Breakker in the match that took place immediately after the incident. The Superstar has not wrestled another match in the three months since the incident.
