Having worked his way back to full fitness, Yussuf Poulsen made his first start for RB Leipzig since October in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Danish international played 60 minutes and was satisfied with his and Leipzig’s performance.
“It was a top first half. Defensively it was one of our best games in the first 45 minutes. But we could have done a few things better with the ball, myself included,” Poulsen told RBlive and added that he finally feels back at full strength after a rough period.
“I had problems with my body, had a lot of muscle injuries, had to work out new routines to get to where my body felt good.
“Now my body has stabilized, I’m fit and just happy that I can play good football again,” said Poulsen.
The Danish international is keen to do all he can to prove that he deserves another chance in the starting line-up – and to be offered a contract extension beyond 2024.
“Everyone has to prove themselves every day and every week at RB to be allowed to continue playing here. That’s nothing new. I do that too, but no differently than usual,” he emphasized.
