According to Patrick Berger, Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer will not move to Nice this summer.
The Swiss goalkeeper has long been linked with a move to the French side who are managed by former Gladbach boss Lucien Favre.
Nice had reportedly offered €2.5m for the goalkeeper who looked to be heading to France.
However, just days after Gladbach had reportedly offered the 33-year-old a new three-year deal.
The decision was then down to Sommer who could choose to stay, sign an extension, or join Favre at Nice.
Having turned down the offer at Nice, it looks likely that Sommer will now sign the three-year deal that has been proposed by his current employers.
Gladbach head coach Daniel Farke recently highlighted the importance of the goalkeeper: “He’s an outstanding goalkeeper and a great guy, a shining light for Borussia. It’s important that we have him with us in the group.”
