As reported by Marca, Xavi has requested the Barcelona board to make more signings to help further improve the team.
Despite the high-profile signings the club has already made, Xavi believes that Barcelona need to bring in even more reinforcements to improve the team further.
The club’s most pressing issue at the moment is the lack of a right-back that Xavi can trust to start week in and out.
Earlier this transfer window, Xavi tried to bring César Azpilicueta to Barça from Chelsea. However, the 32-year-old ended up signing a two-year contract extension with The Blues.
Centre-back Ronald Araújo played at right-back in Barcelona’s disappointing 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano over the weekend and the Uruguayan struggled to adapt to playing in that position.
Nonetheless, the Blaugrana still need to offload their unwanted players – including Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite and Sergiño Dest – to lower their wage bill and free up the budget necessary to make new signings.
