Fabrizio Romano reports that Wolfsburg are set to complete the signing of Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer, with the midfield set to become the club’s second-most-expensive signing ever.
Majer is set to cost Wolfsburg €30m but if the add-ons in the deal are met the Croatian will cost Wolfsburg €35m making him the second most expensive signing in the club’s history ahead of André Schürrle (€32m) and behind Julian Draxler (€43m).
The Croatian’s medical at the club has already been booked. Kicker reports that Wolfsburg hopes Majer will arrive at the club on Tuesday evening meaning he could become an option for Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga opener against newly promoted Heidenheim on Saturday if the final procedures of the transfer are completed in time.
Majer will likely replace Felix Nmecha who joined Borussia Dortmund earlier in the transfer window. The 25-year-old will be Wolfsburg’s seventh signing of the window after they have recently announced the signing of Joakim Maehle from Atalanta for €12m.
