As reported by Bild, future Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer travelled to Switzerland at the weekend to scout Luzern defensive-midfielder Ardon Jashari (20).
Jashari has been nominated in Switzerland’s World Cup squad and according to Transfermarkt, has a market value of €2.5m. But Wolfsburg aren’t the only Bundesliga team interested in the young midfielder. Hoffenheim’s André Breitenreiter, who coached FC Zurich last season, is also keeping an eye on the Luzern midfielder, who signed a contract extension in the summer until 2026.
Schäfer has a well-known contact at Luzern, former Wolfsburg and Stuttgart midfielder Christian Gentner. The duo played together in Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga winning team in 2019 but Genter will end his playing career on December 31 before taking up the role of head of the licensed player department at Stuttgart.
Jashari has already played 17 games across all competitions for Luzern this season and since making his debut in 2020, has played 40 games, scoring two and creating seven.
