Wolfsburg are interested in VfB Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos as Niko Kovac wants more defensive options, reports WAZ.
Mavropanos wants to take the next step in his career after spending three years at VfB. There is no release clause in the 25-year-old’s contract which expires in 2025. It is reported that the fee could be around €15.00m. However, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have also shown interest in the 25-year-old.
Mavropanos signed permanently from Arsenal last summer for €3.20m and was key in Stuttgart’s two seasons since gaining promotion from the 2.Bundesliga.
The interest in the Greek international comes as Kovac wants a defender who does not shy away from duels, is a good passer, can easily deal with danger and knows the Bundesliga.
This season Mavropanos has played 19 times for Stuttgart scoring twice and assisting once as they fight relegation and play in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.
