After signing Denis Vavro on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell, Wolfsburg still want to bolster their defensive options with another signing. Sky Germany report that VfL have initiated talks to sign Kevin Lomónaco (23) of Independiente.
The 23-year-old Argentine central-defender is contracted with his club until 2027 and is valued at €12m by Transfermarkt. Lomónaco is a recent addition to the Argentine U23 squad have played two games against Paraguay in August and October 2024.
Wolfsburg’s interest in Lomónaco comes after the Bundesliga side confirmed that Vavro had undergone major surgery on an adductor injury that the Danish defender picked up just 10 minutes into their DFB Pokal win against SV Hemelingen on Saturday. Vavro’s injury does open up the door for Moritz Jens but the 26-year-old could yet depart the club.
As such, Wolfsburg are keeping their options open as we enter the business end of the transfer window.
