In other Gladbach-related transfer news, German journalist Oliver Bitter of Germany’s Kicker Magazine reports that back-up keeper Jan Olschowsky appears set for a long-term loan out.
Wolf’s contract with the West Prussian foals was terminated by mutual consent so as to allow the 24-year-old to join the CFG New Yorkers on a free. In a statement accompanying the news, BMG sporting executive Roland Virkus noted that “injuries and various other factors” had precluded Wolf from “playing the role at Gladbach that both parties would have liked”.
Under new trainer Gerardo Seoane, however, Olschowsky has slipped to third place on the depth chart. Seoane preferred to turn to 26-year-old Moritz Nicolas after #1 Jonas Omlin succumbed to injury early this season. Nicolas has played all 15 league and both cup fixtures since Omlin underwent shoulder surgery. Olschowsky hasn’t logged a single minute.
Bitter claims that the Gladbach administrative team seek a long-term loan locale in which to park Olschowsky. An 18-month or even two-year stint elsewhere may be in the cards for the Gladbach academy man. The Westphalian club currently carries four keepers, though veteran Tobias Sippel will almost surely depart on an expiring contract this summer.
