There is nothing in the rumours about Chelsea swapping Christian Pulisic for Bayern Munich and France winger Kingsley Coman, journalist Simon Phillips has told GIVEMESPORT.

Talk has emerged about the Blues being interested in a deal that would see the former head to the Allianz Arena and the latter move to Stamford Bridge, but Phillips has ruled it out.

Chelsea transfer news – Christian Pulisic and Kingsley Coman

Earlier this month, one report claimed that Chelsea had contacted Bayern about a potential swap deal involving Pulisic and Coman.

Pulisic has barely played for the Blues this season, so they could be open to letting him go in the upcoming transfer window.

In fact, GMS was recently told by journalist Paul Brown that Chelsea have been willing to listen to offers for the USA international for a while now.

As per Transfermarkt, he has made just three starts in the current Premier League campaign.

What has Simon Phillips said about Christian Pulisic, Kingsley Coman and Chelsea?

Phillips says a Pulisic-Coman swap deal is not currently on the table.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I asked sources about that at the time because I thought it was a bit of a wild claim, and there’s nothing in it at all. Chelsea have had an interest in Coman in the past, but there’s nothing in that recently.”

How did Kingsley Coman perform in France’s run to the World Cup final?

Coman failed to make much of an impact during France’s journey to the World Cup final in Qatar.

However, that says more about the options that Didier Deschamps has rather than the Frenchman’s ability.

Competing against Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele for a spot, Coman was mostly used off the bench, as shown on Transfermarkt.

Nevertheless, he is still a quality player, so you could understand if Chelsea were interested in him. Over the last year, for example, Coman has ranked in the 96th percentile for dribbles completed and the 91st for touches in the penalty area among attacking midfielders and wingers (via FBref).

Ultimately, he is a footballer who can be quite a handful for defenders. If Graham Potter wants to strengthen out wide, the Bayern star is a good name to consider.

It appears, though, that a swap deal involving Coman, who is valued at around £51m by the CIES Football Observatory, and Pulisic is not going to happen in the January transfer window.
