Why an MVP Fighter is Ripping Into Boxing Promoter Jake Paul

Back in 2021, when Jake Paul started to take his venture into professional boxing seriously and not as a side mission to his social media duties, Paul and his business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, launched Most Valuable Promotions. Since the launch of MVP, they have promoted huge, blockbuster events involving ‘The Problem Child,’ such as his showdown with heavyweight boxing icon Mike Tyson last year, and his fight against Nate Diaz in 2023.

As well as being involved in huge events which Paul has headlined, MVP also promoted the two incredible fights between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano and also holds their very own smaller events, which are for promoting and building lesser-known regional talent called Prospects. Things have gone pretty smoothly for MVP so far, however, Jonathan Gabriel Pachado, who fought on the most recent MVP Prospects card, has come out and accused Paul and MVP of some pretty serious things, including failing to pay Pachado the full purse he agreed to.

Jonathan Gabriel Pachado Accuses MVP of Failing to Pay his Full Purse

The Argentine fought on the MVP Prospects 12 card last week

Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions are facing allegations of failing to pay one of their fighters who fought on last Friday’s MVP Prospects 12 card. The allegations come from Argentinian fighter Jonathan Gabriel Pachado, who was defeated by Jeremy Adorno via first-round KO, and if his KO loss wasn’t enough to dwell on, Pachado claims he has yet to receive his full fight purse from MVP. The Argentine took to X, formerly known as Twitter, just days after his fight to grill both Paul and MVP, claiming he got paid just $2,500 for a six-round fight.

Check out Pachado’s post below:

Given Paul and his business partner Nakisa Badarian’s brutal comments towards Dana White and the UFC regarding fighter pay over the years, it would be extremely hypocritical if what Pachado is alleging is true, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case. MVP executive Mike Leanardi quickly responded to Pachado’s claims and revealed that the Argentine missed weight by 13lbs for his bout on Friday and therefore had to forfeit a percentage of his purse to his opponent, which would explain why he may only have been paid £2,500.

Leanardi said the following:

“Jonathan, you missed weight by 13lbs. 13lbs for a 126lbs contracted fight. You showed no professionalism, but your opponent agreed to still fight you, and you agreed to give up some of your purse to him as a result. Please stop with the fake narrative.”

Paul and MVP faced quite a bit of backlash on social media following Pachado’s tweet, so it is no surprise that Leanardi came out quickly to reject his claims.
