It was revealed yesterday that Napoli and club CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis are under investigation for false accounting.
Corriere della Sera (via CN24) have provided more details about the situation, as they talk about what the Partenopei could be at risk of because of the case. De Laurentiis’ lawyers believe that they were waiting for the Prosecutor to begin investigations, so that the club CEO could make his own statement about the case.
The case involves the move involving Victor Osimhen in 2020, when Napoli had offered cash and four players to Lille. The accusation is that Napoli inflated the values of the players, so that they end up signing the Nigerian, with the four players having disappeared from the mainstream arena of the sport, four years on.
While other members of the club board are also under investigation along with De Laurentiis, the club could yet face sanctions. The biggest sanction that Napoli could face is a points deduction in the current season. If not that, they could be at risk of a financial fine and also, De Laurentiis could also be banned for a certain period.
