Werner praises Njinmah, ramps up excitement after Keïta return

SV Werder Bremen trainer Ole Werner had only positives to reflect upon after Werder pulled out a 2-1 comeback win on Saturday night. 

After falling behind 0-1, Ole Werner’s SV Werder Bremen were able to punch back and pull out a 2-1 win in front of their hometown Hanseatic fans on Saturday night. The good news for Werder abounds. The second victory of the young season pulls them away from the relegation pack.

Newly acquired Niclas Füllkrug replacement Rafael Santos Borré scored in his starting XI debut. Newly procured midfielder Senne Lynen finally looked solid in his second start of the season. Justin Njnmah registered another goal off the bench. Naby Keïta also made his club debut as a sub and nearly scored.

Werner lauded Njinmah’s “super timing” on his second goal of the season. The recently returned Dortmund loanee also scored shortly after his introduction into the match in round three’s victory over Mainz. Werner’s eyes visibly lit up when discussing Keïta. The surprise summer signing recorded two shots on target.

“We are happy that he was back on the pitch and that rounded off the evening for us, that we have such a player here,” Werner said of the former Leipzig and Liverpool midfielder, “Now it’s about doing a good job for all of us and getting him into rhythm.”
