After being named in Werder Bremen’s starting lineup for Sunday’s 2-1 Bundesliga defeat to St. Pauli, Felix Agu suffered an injury during the warm-up and was forced to withdraw from the squad.
An MRI scan has since confirmed that the 26-year-old sustained a muscular injury to his adductor.
This means another spell on the sidelines for the left-back, who had only recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff.
“In the situation we currently find ourselves in, every player ruled out makes things even more difficult. Felix had only just recovered from his syndesmosis injury. We hope he can be back as soon as possible,” said head coach Daniel Thioune.
Werder Bremen sit 17th in the Bundesliga table ahead of this weekend’s home clash with bottom-placed 1. FC Heidenheim.
