Werder Bremen’s Clemens Fritz has confirmed the Bundesliga newcomers want to extend the contract of 26-year-old central-defender Miloš Veljković beyond the summer.
“We are in talks,” said Fritz. “No decision has been made yet but we want to quickly create clarity for both sides.”
Veljković is free to leave Werder Bremen on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month, but played an important role in helping Bremen achieve promotion back to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
The Serbia international, who joined Werder Bremen from Tottenham Hotspur in 2016, played 26 league games for Werder Bremen last season.
