Francesco Farioli is worried that the injury sustained by Sofiane Diop (23) during OGC Nice’s 1-0 victory over Toulouse FC is serious.
Diop, who opted to represent the Moroccan national team and who subsequently made his international debut during the recent international break, was fielded in an unfamiliar midfield position against Toulouse due to the absences of Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Hicham Boudaoui.
However, the former AS Monaco winger suffered an injury in the 39th minute and whilst he continued until the break, he was withdrawn by Farioli at half-time and replaced by Alexis Claude-Maurice. Diop has sustained an ankle injury and left the Allianz Riviera on crutches.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, the club fear a severe injury. “We think it is quite serious because he was in quite a bit of pain. I spoke briefly with the doctor, but we will take 48 hours to ascertain what it is and hopefully, it won’t be too serious,” said the Italian.
