In the latest edition of RMC After Foot, Daniel Riolo praised Marseille forward Mason Greenwood’s (22) start to life in Ligue 1 after his move from Manchester United.
The former England U21 has got off to a flying start with OM. Since making the switch from the Premier League club, the English forward has scored 5 goals in three Ligue 1 matches. Greenwood is currently the top goalscorer in the French top flight.
Despite his impressive start at Marseille, Greenwood’s summer transfer from United has not come without it’s controversy and criticism. After the striker was previously charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in 2022 before charges were dropped in 2023, several parties including the city’s mayor have been rather critical of the move.
In spite of the controversy of his move, the RMC journalist has heaped the praise on the Manchester United academy graduate, “Greenwood, in terms of pure qualities, over the first three games, is perhaps the best player in Ligue 1. We know his history but we’re going to talk about the pitch and on the pitch he’s extraordinary. He’s almost above Ligue 1”
