Vicente Guaita has taken an unexpected decision that has surprised those at Crystal Palace. After five seasons with Palace, the experienced goalkeeper has opted to leave the club.
The 36-year-old no longer wishes to continue his career in South London and is actively seeking a move elsewhere. Roy Hodgson, the Crystal Palace manager, confirmed this development, stating, “Guaita is disheartened with the club and has expressed his desire to depart, even refusing to participate”.
Currently, the club appears unsympathetic towards the situation of the Torrente-born player, who had his contract extended until 2024 back in January. The resolution may involve a minor transfer fee or negotiations between the goalkeeper and the club for a mutual agreement of his release.
According to Super Deporte, Valencia like the veteran shot-stopper, and now could be the ideal time to bring Guaita back to Mestalla. The Spanish goalkeeper previously made 113 appearances for Los Che, having graduated from their academy.
