Real Betis may have to wait until the end of the month before they realise their chances of signing Manchester United loan star Antony, Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his GIVEMESPORT column – with both clubs’ involvement in the European competitions likely to see them advance to the final.
United went to Athletic Bilbao on Thursday evening in what looked to be a tricky game on paper, but they put in one of their best performances of the campaign to race into a 3-0 lead by half-time and with Bilbao a man down, they saw the game out with ease to put themselves with one foot in the final.
Romano: Antony Deal to Wait Until After European Finals
The Brazilian could find a permanent exit away from Old Trafford
Betis, meanwhile, beat Fiorentina 2-1 in the Conference League semi-finals on the night – with Antony scoring their second – and although the second-leg in Italy will prove a tough task, it leaves La Viola needing to win on the night to even force extra-time.

Alongside other goals and some superb form during his time in Andalusia, it’s given Antony hero status at Betis, with Verdiblanco fans keen on a deal for the Brazilian to become permanent at the end of the season.
However, Romano has stated that whilst the Spanish outfit will do their best to land the Brazilian trickster, any deal for the former Ajax man will come at the end of the season after their Europa League and Conference League outcomes. Romano wrote in his GIVEMESPORT transfer newsletter:
“Betis will do their best to keep him, but all conversations will be after the Europa League and Conference League verdicts.”
The speedster has been in superb form for Betis, notching up five goal involvements in just 12 La Liga games, as well as five involvements in seven Conference League outings – and his arrival has marked an upturn in form for the club, winning eight of their 12 games, including a win over Real Madrid and a draw away at Barcelona.
He’s lightyears away from his poor United form that saw him score just 12 goals and register a measly five assists in 96 games for the Red Devils – and should Betis win the Conference League, it could be just the ticket for them to land the São Paulo academy product in the summer transfer window.
