Tottenham’s move for Cristian Romero under close investigation

Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Cristian Romero is under close investigation because of Fabio Paratici’s involvement in the transfer.

La Stampa (via TMW) have reported that Romero’s move to Spurs has been seen as a ‘strange one’ as it involves the triangle of Paratici, Atalanta and Juventus since La Dea had to first sign him permanently before selling him on to the English giants.

In a call intercepted back in July 2021, Paratici was speaking to Luca Percassi about Romero and pushed for an agreement, saying: “You have a player who you paid €16 million for and after a day you sell him for €50 million!”

On the 1st of August, a different call between Percassi and Andrea Agnelli was intercepted and the ex-Atalanta man was speaking about Romero. He told: “On a number of prospects that we have, I have to stand still right now because we have Consob, the Guardia di Finanza and all of them watching over the last two years. So I would like to close this stuff here and then go back to put things in order.”

In a call intercepted by La Gazzetta dello Sport in the past, Paratici was said to be speaking about the existence of a document that could have accused him of false accounting and he wasn’t going to reveal that in public.
