Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma was stretchered off shortly after entering the field for Mali in a recent World Cup qualifier against Madagascar
Yves Bissouma has revealed via his Instagram account that he has undergone surgery on his ankle.
The Mali international midfielder picked up the injury during a recent World Cup qualification match against Madagascar, shortly after entering the field.
He was stretchered off following a strong tackle and has been undergoing further examination in recent weeks.
Bissouma is yet to feature for Spurs this season after missing the start of the campaign with a separate issue which is understood to have scuppered a potential transfer to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

He wrote on his social media profile, whilst posting an image from a hospital bed: “Everything went well. I thank God for everything that happens to me. Everything happens for a reason I’m simply following my destiny. Grateful to God for His protection.”

The Dane said: “Biss unfortunately had a situation with the national team, I think everyone saw that unfortunately, so he got a ligament injury to his ankle, they’ll keep him out for weeks.”
It’s been a difficult few months for the 29-year-old, who is also out of contract next summer.
Last term, Bissouma came in from the cold following honest discussions with Ange Postecoglou to play a crucial role in their Europa League triumph.
But this time around, he’s been on the periphery of Frank’s plans – partially due to fitness problems – and was omitted from the travelling squad to Udine for the Super Cup defeat to PSG due to lateness.
