As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.
The English side have been closely monitoring the Dutch defender throughout this summer window and are now close to agreeing on a deal with Wolfsburg for van de Ven’s services. Liverpool threatened to compete for the 22-year-olds signature, but no offer was ever made to the Wolves.
With the deal now approaching the final stages it is understood that personal terms have already been agreed upon between Spurs and van de Ven. Nevertheless, with Tottenham having also shown a desire to lure Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba to London, it is not yet known whether this deal will implicate a possible move for the Burkina Faso defender.
Regardless, it is a move that perfectly suits all parties. While Wolfsburg will undoubtedly receive a handsome fee for their bright prospect, the 22-year-old gets his preferred transfer to the Premier League.
In addition, this move could also act as a catalyst for Wolfsburg as they attempt to sign Stade Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer as personal terms have been agreed. They have found the €25m asking price to be too much up until now, but with newfound finances, the Wolves may be able to make a suitable offer to the French side.
