Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries in January, claims transfer reporter Dean Jones.
The Netherlands international is said to be on Spurs’ list of targets, but Jones cannot see anything happening next month.

Tottenham transfer news – Denzel Dumfries
According to 90min, Tottenham have asked Inter about Dumfries’ availability ahead of the January transfer window.
The outlet states that the north London club could potentially sell Emerson Royal, who is currently Antonio Conte’s first-choice right wing-back, hence the interest in the 26-year-old.
If Inter do allow Dumfries to leave the San Siro next month, he is unlikely to be cheap.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Inter News), the former PSV Eindhoven man could cost his next club around €60m (£52m).

What has Dean Jones said about Denzel Dumfries and Tottenham?
From what he has heard, Jones doubts Dumfries will be moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I don’t see it as one that’s happening in January. I mentioned this to a couple of people recently and haven’t had particularly positive messages back that it’s expected to happen at all.”

How has Denzel Dumfries performed at the World Cup?
Dumfries has been exceptional for the Netherlands, recently scoring in his nation’s 3-1 win against the USA in the last 16.
The Inter star was also involved in his side’s other two goals, assisting both Memphis Depay for the opener and then fellow wing-back Daley Blind.
Nerazzurri supporters will not be surprised by the attacking threat that Dumfries has shown at this year’s World Cup, though.
At club level, he has ranked in the 98th percentile for total shots and the 99th for touches in the attacking penalty area among full-backs over the last year (via FBref).
Looking at one of Tottenham’s current wing-backs, Emerson, he has ranked in the 78th percentile for total shots and the 93rd for touches in the attacking penalty area. So going forward, Dumfries does appear to be a more dangerous option.
Ultimately, if Conte wants to sign a new right wing-back next month, which does seem to be the case, then Dumfries could be a terrific addition to his squad.
Getting him out of Inter does not look like it will be easy, though, so it would not be a shock if the Italian had to go with Emerson, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence for the second half of the campaign.
