Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to formalise an offer for Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Porro in January, according to Correio da Manhã (via Sport Witness).
The 23-year-old has been earning rave reviews in Portugal this season. He has already made 18 appearances across all competitions for Ruben Amorim’s side so far, with eight assists to his name.
His performances have caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Tottenham.
Spurs are keen to bolster their options at wing-back and believe the Spaniard to be a good fit to their needs.
Porro’s current contract at Estadio Jose Alvalade is set to expire in June 2025 but the Lilywhites can sign him by triggering his €45 million buyout clause.
The Spanish footballer started his career at Girona before moving to Manchester City. He failed to make his senior debut at the Etihad Stadium and was permanently sold to Sporting in 2022 after a two-year loan deal.
The 23-year-old has been brilliant in the Primeira Liga this season. He has made 1.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 0.9 clearances per game in the league.
The Spain international has also averaged 2.2 key passes, 1.6 crosses and 2.1 long balls (as per WhoScored).
Porro has mainly been used as a right midfielder by Amorim but the player can operate as a right-back as well.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka, as previously reported by NinetyMinutesOnline.
However, they seem to have suffered a blow in their chase for the Frenchman as Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with him.
