Serie A club Torino have submitted an offer to Chelsea for midfielder Cesare Casadei, according to Calciomercato.
The 21-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge in January after impressing on loan at Leicester City but has struggled for consistent playing time since.
An unused substitute in each of Chelsea’s last two Premier League matches, Casadei has started just four games this season, all of which have come in cup competitions.
Having featured heavily under Enzo Maresca during their time together at Leicester, Casadei revealed he played a key role in his decision to fight for his place at Chelsea.
Despite his previous comments, Casadei could be set to move in January, albeit on a loan deal. Several Italian clubs are keen to bring him back to his native country.
Lazio and Monza are interested in the Chelsea man, but Torino have now reportedly made the first concrete attempt at snapping up Casadei.
Following injuries to Zanos Savva and Emirhan Ilkhan, they are targeting reinforcements in the centre of the pitch as they look to get themselves back on track.
Off the back of a fine start to the season that saw them win four and draw two of their opening six matches, Torino have won just two of the subsequent 14 games across all competitions.
