Daniel Dubois is preparing for another huge night in his boxing career as he gets ready to face Fabio Wardley at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, October 17.
The WBO heavyweight world champion will be looking to retain his title after overcoming Wardley in their first encounter, with the British heavyweight determined to continue his rise at the top of the division.
Ahead of the fight, Dubois has also announced a major six-figure partnership with British performance and lifestyle brand Resonance Energy Wear, becoming its new global ambassador.
The company, founded by former aspiring professional footballer Luke Olley, specialises in performance and streetwear clothing incorporating a proprietary blend of minerals into its fabrics. The brand says its technology is designed to support performance, recovery and general wellbeing.
With Dubois entering the final stages of his preparations for Wardley, the 29-year-old believes his new partnership has already become a useful addition to his training camp.
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Dubois explained what attracted him to the brand.
“Someone mentioned it to me a while back, and then it’s only until I tried on the socks and some of the footwear that I could feel something in it.
“There’s some benefits there. It’s great that it’s not just a nice outfit. It also can help you in your activity.”
The heavyweight champion also revealed that he has incorporated the clothing into his preparations for the upcoming fight.
“All the sessions I’m doing now, I’m using the socks and the footwear, so it’s much needed added support in camp, whatever helps.”
The partnership represents another step in Dubois’ growing commercial profile, with Resonance preparing to expand internationally, including into London and Dubai.
Daniel Dubois Confident Ahead of Fabio Wardley Rematch
With his preparations approaching their final stages, Dubois is determined to deliver another victory against Wardley.
The pair previously met in May, with Dubois eventually securing an 11th-round stoppage following a dramatic heavyweight contest.
Although the first encounter proved challenging, Dubois believes his preparation and mentality will be key to retaining his world title.
“Lots of confidence, but I don’t just take it from that. I just know I’ve prepared right.
“We’ve done everything we can, and it’s all down to my team and myself, just believing in myself, really, and going out there to show them what I can do.”
Asked whether he considers himself an improved fighter since their first meeting, Dubois insisted he is ready to do whatever is necessary to remain champion.
“I feel I’ve improved. To be honest, it all comes down to how I feel on the night, how I fought.
“I’ve been doing this for so long now that it’s like second nature for me. So I just need to pull out the right mentality, mindset for this fight and go out there and do the business.”
The 29-year-old also dismissed suggestions that the atmosphere inside the O2 Arena could influence his performance.
“It doesn’t matter to me, really. I feel like the fans are just going to do what they do,” he admitted.
“For me, I’m in my zone and once I’ve got my soldiers around me, then it’s time to go to war.”
And when asked for his prediction ahead of the rematch, Dubois delivered a clear warning to Wardley.
“I’m going to break him, break him up, break him down and victory by any means necessary, as I always say.”
Dubois Wants Winner of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
Beyond his upcoming title defence, Dubois has his sights set on some of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing.
Having already defeated Anthony Joshua at Wembley in September 2024, the British fighter was asked about a potential showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Dubois delivered a typically straightforward assessment of the two former world champions.
“Well, actually, they’re both past their primes, so let them knock the hell out of each other and may the best man win.
“This fight should have happened long ago, but it is what it is. Give me the winner. I want to fight the winner.”
However, Dubois made it clear that his ultimate ambition is not simply securing another lucrative fight, but continuing to collect world titles.
“I’m not chasing them. They’re two old guys having a big money fight, super fight, whatever.
“I’m chasing the belt. So whoever has the belt and the glory that comes with that and whoever my team sits down and negotiates with, I’m open to all options.”
Asked whether discussions had already taken place with promoter Frank Warren about a potential fight against Fury, Dubois confirmed that no conversations had yet happened.
Dubois Not Focused on Oleksandr Usyk Trilogy
Dubois has also addressed the possibility of facing Oleksandr Usyk for a third time.
The Ukrainian has twice defeated the British heavyweight, but Dubois insists that avenging those defeats is not currently a priority.
Instead, his attention is firmly on securing further championship opportunities.
“I’m not looking at Usyk now. I’m looking at whoever has the belts and be collecting those belts, man. I’m not really looking back, no.”
Dubois was also asked about rising heavyweight Moses Itauma, who has attracted considerable attention throughout his professional career.
The world champion praised the youngster’s ability and suggested he still has a bright future in boxing.
“He was a great talent in boxing. He’ll be back, man.”
Daniel Dubois Opens Up on Life Outside Boxing
Away from the ring, Dubois revealed that he struggles to sit still long enough to watch films, although he does enjoy some of cinema’s classics.
“I can’t sit down long enough to watch a film, man. I can’t sit down like that. But I watch some movies sometimes. I like the classic movies, like Rocky or Gladiator or stuff like that.”
When asked which actor he would choose to portray him in a potential film about his career, Dubois delivered a light-hearted response.
“I can’t name one right now. I’ll play me.”
For now, however, his attention remains on the immediate challenge of defending his WBO heavyweight title.
With Wardley standing between him and another significant victory, Dubois will be hoping to deliver on his promise of winning by any means necessary when the pair meet again on October 17.
