Barcelona would like to sign BVB’s Thomas Meunier to solve their issues at right-back, according to Spanish newspaper Sport. American Sergino Dest has fallen out of Xavi’s favor and the La Liga giants would prefer a defender with loads of international experience. Dortmund want €15 million for Meunier, while Barcelona are not willing to pay more than €10 million.
The Spanish side were set to sign Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, but he instead extended his contract with the Premier League club. At 30-years-old, Meunier would provide Barcelona with a huge physical presence at the back and is capable of creating chances going forward.
Marius Wolf, Mateu Morey and Felix Passlack could replace Meunier if BVB are willing to let him go. The Belgian international’s contract runs until 2024.
