Chelsea defender Thiago Silva reportedly looks to be facing an uncertain future at the club and his role towards the end of the season may even be diminished.
The veteran Brazilian has been a key player at Stamford Bridge down the years, but he’s now approaching the end of his contract and will turn 40 next season.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea are not currently planning to offer Silva a new contract, so it seems his time with the west Londoners is coming to an end in a few months’ time.
Until then, however, it might also be that we’ve largely seen the last of Silva as a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.

The Guardian note that there is a feeling inside Chelsea that Pochettino has to sacrifice too much defensively by using the ageing centre-back, so it may be that the Argentine will look to do something different.
This seems particularly wise given that Chelsea just dropped Silva for their last game and produced arguably their most impressive performance of the season to beat Aston Villa 3-1 away from home in the FA Cup in midweek.
