Germany’s No. 1, Marc-André ter Stegen, has reportedly been told he will be FC Barcelona’s third-choice goalkeeper if he stays at the club.
Germany goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has lost his spot as FC Barcelona’s No. 1, according to Spanish media.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is said to have informed ter Stegen that new signing Joan García will be the starting goalkeeper heading into the new season.
The reports go further, claiming that ter Stegen has dropped to third in line, with Szczesny also ahead of him in the pecking order.
Even though Barcelona are keen to offload ter Stegen, the 33-year-old has so far shown no intention of leaving.
Time will tell if that changes, as ter Stegen needs regular playing time to keep his spot as Germany’s No. 1 for next year’s World Cup.
