Ten Hag ‘will be looking at’ 144-goal South American at Old Trafford

Manchester United are “probably looking” at Paulo Dybala, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Red Devils could find themselves in the market for a new forward following Cristiano Ronaldo‘s request to leave the club, and Dybala is currently available after the expiration of his Juventus contract.

What is the latest news involving Dybala?

Dybala is a free agent after failing to sign a new contract at Juventus.

The 28-year-old attacker is now being heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, who have already improved their frontline this summer with the addition of Romelu Lukaku.

According to TuttoJuve, the Nerazzurri are interested in signing Dybala but are waiting for some exits before resuming negotiations for the player.

It gives United an opportunity to strike, and the Premier League outfit may need to if Ronaldo leaves this transfer window.

As per The Times, the Portugal legend has asked for a move following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

What has O’Rourke said about Dybala and United?

O’Rourke thinks Dybala is a player who is likely to be on United’s radar right now.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I think it’s something that they probably are looking at. Dybala’s a free agent, probably one of the best free agents on the market this summer following his contract expiring at Juventus. A quality player we all know Dybala is, it’s just getting him on the pitch.

“He’s had a few fitness problems, I think, over the last few seasons. He’s not an out-and-out goalscorer, which Manchester United are looking for – he’s probably more of a No.10.”

Could Dybala replace Ronaldo at United?

As O’Rourke alluded to, you probably would not describe Dybala as a lone No.9. While he can play up front and is capable of scoring goals, registering 144 in his career, the South American has often been used alongside someone else in attack.

With that in mind, Dybala leading United’s line by himself in a very physical division like the Premier League may not sound too ideal to some.

However, there are not too many other options on the market right now. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is one other name that comes to mind, but apart from him, it is hard to think of another forward United could realistically go after.

Therefore, it would not be a shock to see Dybala in United’s starting XI this upcoming season if Ronaldo does depart Old Trafford. Whether the Argentina international would be a good fit for Erik ten Hag’s side, though, remains to be seen.
