Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could deploy both Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek in the same team this upcoming season, believes journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The former is close to joining the club, while the latter has returned from his loan spell at Everton, and O’Rourke can envision them playing together.

What is the latest news involving United?
United are set to sign Eriksen on a free transfer after the 30-year-old chose not to extend his six-month contract at Brentford.
According to The Athletic, Eriksen has verbally agreed to sign for the English giants on a three-year deal.
Should there be no hiccups, the Dane will link up with Tyrell Malacia, who became the first signing of the Ten Hag era following his move from Feyenoord.
With just Malacia through the door so far, though, it has been a quiet transfer window at Old Trafford.

What has O’Rourke said about Eriksen, Van de Beek and United?
While O’Rourke is not completely sure where Eriksen is going to play in this United team, he is confident that Ten Hag has a plan for him and can see both the Denmark international and Van de Beek lining up alongside each other.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “It’s an interesting signing this Eriksen one. He obviously had a great second half of the season with Brentford. He’s a free agent as well, so it looks a good piece of business by Manchester United. It’s just where is he going to play in the team for Erik ten Hag?
“It increases competition for places, which all the top clubs need, but is he going to play further forward in a different system, or will Van de Beek get his chance finally in this Manchester United midfield? You could see maybe them playing together as well, as I’m sure Erik ten Hag has got plans in place to fit Eriksen into his team for next season. I’m sure Eriksen and Van de Beek could work together.”
How could United line up with Eriksen and Van de Beek in the 2022/23 season?
At Ajax, Ten Hag’s preferred formation was 4-3-3, so you would expect United to line up in that shape in the forthcoming campaign.
It could see Eriksen, £120,000-a-week Van de Beek and a holder like Frenkie de Jong, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils, all start in midfield. In total, Eriksen and Van de Beek have scored 154 goals combined in their careers, so the team’s engine room could be about to become much more exciting.
The big question is, though, where would the above leave Bruno Fernandes? The Portugal international is too good of a footballer to leave out and only recently signed a new long-term contract, so you would imagine that he is going to be a starter under Ten Hag, though only time will tell.
