Here is our preview of Tuesday’s Champions League group stage clash between AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, including predicted lineups.
Fresh off a spirited comeback win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund will travel to Italy on Tuesday night to take on AC Milan in the Champions League.
The Black and Yellows trailed 2-0 at home to Gladbach 28 minutes into the game, but battled back for a 4-2 victory to end a three-game winless streak in the league.
They now head into Tuesday’s match as Group F leaders, hoping to take another step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League.
“We won a game, we were successful in the league again. That was an important step for us this weekend. Now we are looking forward to the game on Tuesday. We deserve to go to Milan as leaders in this group. But we know that we have a tough task ahead of us,” BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl is quoted as saying by the club.
Milan are third in the group, two points behind Borussia Dortmund, and are coming off a 1-0 win over Fiorentina at the weekend.
“We have followed their last games, their results and injury situation. We will see what team Milan bring to the pitch. But we are concentrating on ourselves and we have a few things we have to take with us. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to it because we can take a step forward,” said Kehl.
Compared to the match against Gladbach, Dortmund will be without Niklas Süle, who is ill, but Sebastien Haller and Karim Adeyemi return to the squad. Marcel Sabitzer is doubtful.
“Niklas Süle will unfortunately miss out, he is sick. But Sebastien Haller and Karim Adeyemi are back in the squad. Marcel Sabitzer is also feeling better and will be there. We will see if he is ready to play. We will go there with a good team and we are well prepared.”
