Erling Haaland returns to the Signal Iduna Park for the first time since his summer move, as Manchester City face Dortmund in this Champions League rematch.

If Sevilla and Copenhagen draw, Dortmund could lock up a spot in the Champions League knockout round with a loss against Manchester City. The storyline of the match clearly surrounds Erling Haaland, who’s back in Dortmund after his summer departure.
In case a team does claim all three points in Group G’s other contest on Matchday 5, BVB could still need a win in order to assuredly advance. Dortmund have looked unconvincing at times in recent weeks, but did thrash Stuttgart 5-0 at home over the weekend.

Not only will Edin Terzic’s side face Haaland once again, but former Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji will have his hands full trying to slow down Jude Bellingham. The wonderkid has scored in every single Champions League match to start the season.

Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel commented that, “Erling is a good guy and an outstanding footballer. It was a very emotional farewell when he left. He’s brutally fast, but tomorrow we have to stop him. In training alone, it was always a challenge with him.”

Dortmund are currently sweating over the fitness of several key players. Nico Schlotterbeck, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro and Donyell Malen are all question marks for Tuesday night.

Captain Marco Reus may need another week before returning from injury, while Salih Özcan is suspended. Thomas Meunier, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Sebastien Haller are all out for BVB.

For Pep Guardiola’s side, Sergio Gomez is suspended, while Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips will not be available.

Take a look at our predicted lineups here.
